You can immediately spot a sense of humor in Bethany Cosentino tattoos in the “As If” word tattoo on the side of her left wrist.
It is in response to being referred to as a “Valley Girl” in the press, and the phrase “As if” is an ironic comment in the “Valley Girl” slang. So she jokingly confirms that she is a ‘Valley Girl’, (but only in the sense that she was born there!)
Here is Bethany Cosentino’s latest tweet:
“Today I was forever branded a valley girl brat from childhood #knowledgeable”
A Valley Girl is a fashion-obsessed teenage girl from a wealthy family in California’s San Fernando Valley. One of the negative stereotypes is that Valley Girls depend on their parents for money instead of making a career.
Bethany Cosentino’s music
That stereotype makes not describe Bethany Cosentino, who studied journalism and creative writing in New York and, as one half of the rock duo, worked hard to be successful with her own songs Best coast!

High up on her right arm, Bethany Cosentino has an adorable “Fat Bird” tattoo drawn as a simple black cartoon outline with a small twig underneath as a perch.
Bethany Cosentino Tattoos – Three crossed feathers tattoo for women
Just below her right collarbone in the front, Bethany Cosentino tattoos feature three feathers tied at the ends, usually depicting the Christian virtues of faith, hope, and charity.
Here is a tattoo that I have never seen before! It’s a profile cameo of a highly fashionable “flapper” from the 1920s, with cropped hair, lipstick and a stylish “cloche” hat!
In the 1920s, young women first refused to wear painful, body-crushing corsets sewn into real whale bones! The “flappers” were also the first women to cut their hair short, got office jobs and wore make-up – previously only worn by prostitutes.
So this particular one from Bethany Cosentino tattoos seems to pay homage to the first feminists!
Bethany Cosentino Tattoos – Cute little diamond finger tattoo for women
This black and gray diamond tattoo appeared among the other Bethany Cosentino tattoos on the base of her middle finger in June 2012.
Bethany says her “diamond” tattoo has no special meaning to her and she got it on the fly when she and a friend were bored, so they went to a tattoo parlor.
It’s also a humorous way of getting a “diamond on your hand” to show that you are not materialistic and you don’t care about diamond rings and expensive jewels!
Back tattoo idea – cute little penguin tattoo for women
This cute picture of a penguin is the only one of Bethany Cosentino’s tattoos on her back and it is on her right shoulder blade.
There are three more Bethany Cosentino tattoos and me on her inner left arm love the two-tailed mermaid or Melusine, above!
Legend has it that a Melusine is half mermaid and half human and turns into a double-tailed mermaid every Saturday when she secretly bathes!
On her elbow are the words’California dreams a famous hit song of the Mums and dads, 1965, relating to “daydreaming” about the California sun on a dark winter day.
And here’s another of several Bethany Cosentino tattoos that showcase her pride in being a California girl. It’s a silhouette of the State of California on her forearm, colored black.
By doing negative Space, you can see the outline of a bear, the state animal of California, which is pretty clever!
On Bethany’s left upper arm are two traditional black-outlined hearts with banners labeled “Richard” and “Terri Jen,” and these are believed to be the names of Bethany’s parents.
Bethany Cosentino has the name of her beloved cat, ‘Snacks’ written in italics on the inside of her left forearm.
Bethany Cosentino also has a small red heart tattoo with a curved line of unknown words on the inside of her right wrist.
